Time to Empower and Inspire

Time to Empower and Inspire
We live in an amazing time with technology creating unbelievable opportunities to all the present and future generations.

The phone in your pocket has more computing power than the computers we used to send a person to the moon.

Robots and AI are experimenting insanely wild developments.

Healthcare and current developments in personal genomics and personalized medicine speak for themselves.

Vision Without Execution Is Just Hallucination

Vision Without Execution Is Just HallucinationDisclaimer, the title is not mine. It’s actually from Thomas Edison.

As any normal person, I like to talk about ideas, exchanging creative thoughts and thinking about the future. When the ideias are good, it’s inspiring.

But in this new Fashionable Entrepreneur world, I feel that we are praising the wrong kind of principles and values. Continue reading

FoBO – Fear of Being Overtaken

innovation-absence-of-fearDuring my life path as a supposed entrepreneur I’ve always pointed out that my biggest fear is to, at some point, lose the ability to see the big picture, to stop connecting the dots and see the future.

Everything else may block or delay but it’s part of the journey.

I call this fear “FoBO” or “Fear of Being Overtaken”. Continue reading

Computer history: Wesley A. Clark, father of the Personal Computer

Nowadays we got technology for granted. We don’t think anymore about who invented what and how. We know digital is binary and that mobile uses waves but, I would say that’s pretty much it.

Well, the person responsible for starting the personal computer era, Wesley A. Clark, died last week at his home in Brooklyn. He was 88. Continue reading

The End of the End of Internet Marketing (as we know it, of course!)

Let’s face it: everything changes. In the past things were slower. Nowadays, they are faster and faster. Everything changes. Everything evolves. That’s normal. In the on demand and real time economy, tomorrow is not only another day. Tomorrow is a brand new day.

So whenever I hear that something is ending, at least as we know it, I think: so what?

Change and innovation don’t usually happen in a blitz! Usually they are a result of a combination of variables at the right moment with creativity or, sometimes, just a sense of opportunity. But it’s rarely the end of something.

The end of Facebook? We heard some voices about it a few years ago. The end of vinyl? Yep, people talked about it more than 20 years ago. Oh, by the way, remember Google Wave? Yes, and the end of email! Uber and the end of Taxis! And of course, Internet privacy, tracking, cookies and the end of Internet Marketing (or advertising)!

So, the end of Internet Marketing (as we know it)? What does it mean?

Jumping to the conclusion: Absolutely nothing!

Dear Blog. I’m back!

Me
Dear Blog. I’m back!

It has been a while since my last interaction.

In these last 3 years I’ve been away from you. Not that I stopped caring but sometimes we need to stop and make choices. Choices about where we put our efforts in translating our thoughts, vision and beliefs in the real world.

I haven’t been lost in translation! I’ve just been translating away. Translating thoughts into music, people, my family and always By Side.

Now I’m back. And since you are my personal journal, I will write about me. About what I care. About music, media, rumbling thoughts and of course, my work.

There will be a difference from the past: I will do it in English. This is a way to avoid being language lazy and to make an effort to improve it. So… forgive and forget about typos and other errors.

I look forward to writing you.

Yours faithfully,

../vitor

Aceita a utilização? Sim ou não?” é no mínimo… (recuso-me a adjectivar publicamente).
