This morning, another of many Twitter applications was released. In this case another viewer (actually... another excellent way to waste time). Despite that, Twittearth is... appealing. Basically, this is a mashup application that creates a 3D view of the earth (made with PaperVision ) using geolocation (using the Yahoo APIs ) to land tweets generated every 10 seconds, using free avatars ( fasticon ).
The most interesting in all of this was following the viral effect. In this case the Word Of Mouse!
The service was launched this morning. From 12:15 to 13:15, the number of pages on Google referring to Twittearth went from 26 to 967 (counted the Paul Dear ). At 2:55 the Twittearth had more than 10,000 connected users.
During this period, Twitter references did not stop. That is, Twitter definitely takes over as another means of taking into account any viral action.
