Okay... it's a generational thing. Totally '80s! Nostalgia! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Whatever!

The big thing is that there are little pleasures that... taste good. I'm even the guy who after surrendering to iPod, wants a Squeezebox and a decent DAC because I also surrendered to mp3, I started to “consumer” playlists; I used Pandora before they blocked access out of the U.S., and I say Last.FMIs“Web 2.0′′”. Despite this, I keep my collection of CDs (the stage of the CD has always been for me a “phase” only... necessary; never convinced me!) and keep my entire collection of vinyl (are enough) and my dish Planar Watering 2 who cost me my eyes (still in high school time, I had to work on vacation to buy it)!

Despite the distance, I keep the memory of the joy of spending afternoons thinking and testing the summer K7! Hours and hours listening to Vinyl, thinking about which beginning of music connected with the previous music; thinking about the logic of K7's opening music; on global logic; on side B.

In fact, the summer cassette (K7) had a special taste (after all... 3 months of vacation, beach, camping, rice and sausage cans, sleeping on the beach...). And since there were no resources for mixers, the use of handmade technique to simultaneously click on Rec and Play buttons a few seconds before starting to finish the current music. And then there was the cape! Depending on the purpose of K7, or the “who” to “who” was, the cover could give even more work than the recording. That is, recording a K7 was almost an art (part of the art of “seduction”)! I don’t know how this works today but the “I made a playlist thinking about you!” doesn’t have the same impact as an object that reminds us and materializes that they thought about us and that for a few minutes it shows us the “soul” (yes, it’s a romantic image...) of someone we love.

That said... when I recently discovered some sites that remind us of the enjoyment of these days, of course I did immediately (without the care of the past, that's right!) a K7. The first site I discovered, very simple and effective, was the MuxTape. Then I discovered the MixWit. At first glance raw menus that MuxTape and so less funny. But no... MixWit lets you customize the image of K7 (as we did with the cover), create collections of K7’s, without limits of music and facilitates publication in Blogs.

It is at this stage that you may be thinking: *“What then?! What is the point of this?! What do I care?”

Probably nothing! Pure nostalgia! Sometimes it's worth remembering. And with this kind of services we can go back to feeling and explaining old routines and sharing them with friends and family. Back to old high school, teenage, old-school, but very rich, '80s!

And if you think that I am overreacting and that I am completely crazy, there is worse than I am: Russell Davies, started a movement of “ MuxTaping “: When they send you the address of a MuxTape, record a K7 with MuxTape sent and on the other side record a random MuxTape. Then, at no cost, send the respective K7.
